The Value of Asking Questions

Asking questions is an important part of life. It helps us to focus, to solve problems, and to learn.

Bobb Biehl, author of The Question Book, notes,

We simply can't make clear distinctions without the use of questions! No distinctions! No decisions! No action! No wonder questions are such a powerful force. Without questions we would not--could not--take any action!
Ulimately, our ability to ask questions influences some critical areas:
  • Communicating effectively
  • Making decisions
  • Creating visions for the future
  • Setting goals
  • Influencing people and policies
  • Prioritizing
  • Taking risks
  • Delegating
  • Solving problems
No problem in the world has ever been solved without a question or series of questions being asked first. Learning to aks is a prerequisite to learning to think clearly. If you are not able to ask questions, you will ultimately make cloudy distinctions, reach uncertain decisions, and take wrong actions.
As you prepare to start a new church, take time to assess the questions that need to be asked. Make long lists of questions - and then research the answers. Talk to people who have already planted a church and listen to their stories and hear their answers.

Most importantly - take your questions to God in prayer and listen to His answers.

Asking the right questions will increase your effectiveness in starting a new church! It will give you clarity and focus. It's a prerequisite to getting started.

So...start asking!!!
